1) What do I need to do?
π― Your mission: Introduce your hero
Write 3 print() lines of your own:
1. Your hero's name
2. Their superpower
3. Their catchphrase
2) What do I need to know?
What is code?
Computers are super fast, but they can't think for themselves. They need instructions. Writing instructions for a computer is called coding.
We're going to use a language called Python. It's used by real scientists, game makers and even NASA!
Python reads your code from top to bottom, one line at a time β just like you read a comic.
π§° Your toolkit for this mission
Everything you need to know to finish this lesson on your own:
print()
A command that shows words on the screen.
How to write it: Type print, then round brackets ( ), and put your words inside quote marks.
print("I am Blaze!")String
Any text inside quote marks. Python shows it exactly as you typed it.
How to write it: Start and end with the same quote: "hello" or 'hello'.
print("POW! π₯")One command per line
Each print() goes on its own line and makes its own line of output.
How to write it: Press Enter after each command. Python runs them top to bottom.
print("Line 1")
print("Line 2")Common bugs
Python is picky about spelling and symbols.
How to write it: print must be lowercase. Every ( needs a ). Every opening quote needs a closing quote.
# wrong: Print("hi"
# right:
print("hi")Think about it
Look at this code. What happens next, and why? Say it in your own words.
print("Ready")
print("Go!")Watch & explore βΆ
Power-up: What is code?
See it happen
1 / 3print("Wake up!")Code is a set of instructions for a computer.
3) Run the code & terminal output
Press βΆ RUN and your program's messages appear here!
